Our History

The Beginning

Benjamin R. Kreider founded B.R. Kreider Landscaping & Grading business, purchasing a 1936 CAT 22 excavating machine as his first piece of equipment. Wife Virgie served as bookkeeper, and son Elvin worked summers and after school.

Father & Son

Elvin married and became a partner. The business was renamed to B.R. Kreider & Son. They expanded excavation services and developed asphalt paving as a core service.

Incorporation

The company incorporated as B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. and a new building was constructed to support the growing operation.

Growth & Innovation

Elvin's sons Ken and Jim shared management responsibilities, while daughter Carol assisted with administration. In the early 1990s, the company invested in the innovative "Street Print" asphalt texturing system.

Third Generation

Elvin retired. The third generation — Ken Kreider, Jim Kreider, and Carol Buchen — assumed majority ownership.

Fourth Generation

On December 21, the fourth generation acquired 100% ownership: Brent Kreider (Ken's son), Heidi Hollinger (Jim's daughter), and Courtney Dougherty (Carol's daughter).

Continuing the Legacy

The fourth generation continues the Kreider legacy, committed to the same values and quality craftsmanship that have defined the company since 1936.
